History
The Jasco Group was founded in 1976 and listed on the JSE in 1987.
Originally, the company focused on distributing, designing, installing, assembling and manufacturing electronic and electrical products, services and solutions. Jasco played a leading role in electronics and high technology for several decades.
As part of our growth strategy that includes tactical acquisitions, the Jasco Group completed a merger with Spescom in 2010. Spescom, a listed company since 1987, focused on delivering integrated business communication solutions that allow businesses to communicate with their clients; leveraging voice, video and data technologies.
This merger has enabled us to evolve from a business with a focus on the electronics industry to an all-encompassing end-to-end solutions provider. We now benefit from a broader customer base as well as an enhanced product portfolio and improved service capability. With great synergies and complementary skills sets between Jasco and Spescom, the Jasco group now incorporates the spirit of Spescom and represents a formidable force in the ICT, Industry and Energy spaces.
As a result of the merger, a change in strategy and focus has seen us move from a holding company for a number of disparate brands to a powerful consolidated master brand enterprise across the three verticals that we now focus on.
Each of these three verticals represents a key issue in the sub-Saharan region. We are now well positioned to take advantage of opportunities for growth moving forward. The synergies between the verticals, sectors, business units and brands that now form part of the greater Jasco Group can be leveraged to grow our market share and expand our footprint in the African market.
